Hi,

I am trying to clean out an SPSS file that has been handed down to me, how do I determine if a variable has been recoded and how do I determine the formula of how it was recoded?

For ex. Was variable Testing_6 the product of a recode and if so, what is the formula behind it.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

CCS

You can tell that. If you have just the dataset, you can't really tell if someone recoded variables before giving it to you. You'd need syntax journals from past sessions (or ask whoever gave you that).
