Is it not showing the decimal points? You may have to increase the decimals shown in the Variable view.

Hi pvalue, it is showing the decimal points but it isnt letting me type more than two digits to the left of the point e.g 110.00, it will only allow 11.00, maybe SPSS just works this way, i dont know. Any help would be much appreciated.

Check the variable view. If the Width define for the variable is 2, then it won't allow more than 2 digits before the decimal point.

Also, if you click an individual cell, the full value should be shown at the top of the SPSS data viewer.

I'm fairly certain SPSS allows more than two digits.

Hi L,
I encountered the same problem. I can't solve it by adjusting the number of
decimal points or the number of digits.

Only way I can import the correct values is by either choosing string format or dot format. The problem with dot format is that the decimal separator is ignored, I mean 24.00 becomes 2.400.

Anyone who can help us/me out? Thanx a lot!!

First, you need to tell SPSS the names of your variables. You can double click on the column heading. That permits you to enter information about the variable for that column. Did u do that?

Hi L.

Its probably a combination of Width & Decimal Places-both are in the Variable View.

The Width has to be large enough to fit LHS.RHS of the decimal point.

e.g. if you have the number 100.23 then you need a width of at least 5 and decimal of 2.

To be on the safe side you should have a width of at least 8.
